Saber Al‑Haidari, a Yemeni journalist working for Japan’s NHK and in public relations for Yemen’s Ministry of Information, was killed on 15 June 2022 when an improvised explosive device planted in his car detonated in Aden’s al‑Mansoura district while he was returning home. Two unidentified individuals travelling with him were also killed and another was injured. No group claimed responsibility. Yemeni authorities, including the Information Minister, pointed to potential Houthi involvement, noting that Al‑Haidari had left Sanaa in 2017 due to prior harassment by Houthi forces.
