Sahar Al-Khawlani

Sahar Al-Khawlani is a Yemeni media figure and human rights activist who was abducted from her home in Sana’a on 10 September 2024 by Houthi forces. Her detention followed her outspoken criticism of the Houthi regime, including allegations of corruption and the dire economic situation in areas under their control. During her captivity, Sahar Al-Khawlani was subjected to physical and psychological torture. She was released on 5 February 2025 after sustained pressure from local and international human rights organizations. Upon her release, she expressed gratitude to her family and supporters who advocated for her freedom.
