Saif Mohamed Ahmed Al-Hadari, director of the Al-Shoumou‘ Media Foundation and a prominent media figure in Yemen, experienced a violent violation of press freedom when, on 23 September 2023, Houthi rebels forcefully entered and ransacked his home in Sana’a, looting the premises and issuing threats aimed at coercing him to alter his reporting. The same day, a family member was kidnapped in a broader campaign of intimidation designed to silence independent media and suppress critical voices.
