Salam Musafer (Simsim) was a 28-year-old transgender Iraqi blogger. Simsim was known for an active social media presence, and lived in Turkey for eight years after fleeing discrimination in Iraq. Simsim was murdered on 15 February 2024 after returning to Iraq to visit family. The perpetrator was arrested on 21 February 2024, and attributed his confessions to a financial dispute between them.
