Sulaiman Al-Moamari

Sulaiman Al-Moamari is an Omani writer, broadcaster, and online activist known for his literary work, cultural programming, and advocacy for human rights. He has published several books and received the 2007 Suhail Idris Award for short stories. He has also produced successful radio programs focusing on cultural and social topics and participated in the 2011 pro-reform protests in Oman. Al-Moamari has used social media platforms, particularly Facebook, to express his views and support fellow activists, including cinema critic and online activist Abdullah Habib. His online activities and public advocacy have led to repeated targeting by the Omani Internal Security Service (ISS). Since April 2016, he was summoned and detained incommunicado by the Special Division of the Omani Police General Command in Muscat, with no access to his family or legal counsel.
