Wael Al-Absi, a Yemeni freelance cameraman and photographer for television, was killed in the city of Taiz on 26 May 2017, while covering clashes between Gulf-supported forces loyal to President Hadi and Houthi-aligned fighters. He died when a shell struck a building where he and others were taking cover during the crossfire. He had previously been injured in combat coverage the year before.
