Waheed Mohammad Naji Haider Al-Sufi

Waheed Mohammad Naji Haider Al-Sufi was a Yemeni journalist and founder of the daily news website Al-Arabia Online. He also received an official permit from the Ministry of Information to publish a newspaper called “Al-Arabiya”, but it was never published due to his abduction. On 06 April 2015, Waheed Mohammad Naji Haider Al-Sufi was kidnapped by two armed men in civilian clothes while waiting to pay an internet bill at Al-Tahrir Post Center in Sana’a. His family, including his wife and two daughters, searched for him in various government departments and appealed to international organizations, but to no avail. His cousin, Fahmi Al-Sufi, who was with him at the time, filed a complaint with Al-Olafi Police Station in Sana’a, but no information was provided about his whereabouts or the identity of the kidnappers. Al-Sufi’s fate remains unknown.
