Yasmine Al-Ghufaili

Yasmine Al-Ghufaili is a Saudi Arabian human rights activist and blogger who was arrested on 17 May 2021 for peacefully expressing her opinions on social media, particularly on Twitter/X. Following her arrest, she was subjected to enforced disappearance and held in solitary confinement at Buraidah Prison, with no access to legal representation or contact with her family. During her detention, Al-Ghufaili was coerced into appearing in a televised report aired by the state-run Al-Ikhbariya channel, which aimed to portray Saudi prisons in a positive light. After nearly four years of arbitrary detention without trial, she was released on or before 22 May 2025.
