Youssef Al-Qadi
Youssef Al-Qadi, a Yemeni photojournalist working for Al-Masdar and Al-Jazeera, became the target of direct repression on 22 September 2014 when his home in Sanaa was raided by armed individuals affiliated with Houthi-allied forces. His personal belongings were searched, and his workspace compromised, all as part of a broader campaign against media outlets and individual journalists by de facto authorities in the capital. The Gulf Centre for Human Rights described these raids as a blatant assault on freedom of expression, which forced many journalists (including Al-Qadi) to censor themselves or go into hiding due to fear of further reprisals. Despite the seriousness of these violations, there is no publicly available record of any legal proceedings against him nor any formal charges, nor are there updates indicating that his situation has evolved since that incident.
