“DatNav” is now available in Arabic!

29/03/2017

We are pleased to launch the Arabic version of DatNav, the guide to browse digital data for human rights research. The Arabic version was published with the support and effort of Meedan Foundation.

Datnav is the collaborative product of Amnesty International, Benetech and The Engine Room with nearly 70 people – representing about 40 different institutions around the world – who are active members of the technical community and Human Rights documentation. The “Datnav” guide with the help of Collaborations for Change was developed through a writing sprint in May 2016 which Gulf Center took part in.

The Arabic version of Datnav has been translated by Meedan, an institution that develops digital tools for global translation and journalism. As a permanent supporter of the Meedan Foundation and its work, we are pleased to welcome them to the institutions and individuals who worked to produce this guide.

Some Datnav partners are organizations that focus on the Arab region, including the Gulf Center for Human Rights and the Syrian Justice and Accountability Center. Other partners, such as WITNESS and Benetech, have a number of resources available in Arabic that are available through their book and resource sharing initiatives as well.

By providing an Arabic version of Datnav, we hope that more researchers in the field of human rights will be able to use the resources in this manual to activate the power of digital data in their work. So we are pleased that Datnav is now available in English, Spanish and Arabic versions.

If you are interested in translating the Datnav guide into another language you can communicate with us; all content is available under the Creative Commons license and we welcome the merging of the copies with their number.
