Ali Jumaa Ali Bahr
Ali Jumaa Ali Bahr is an Egyptian Nubian citizen currently imprisoned in Saudi Arabia. He is among 10 Egyptian Nubian citizens arrested, in violation of their right to peaceful assembly, after an attempt to organise a peaceful symposium. Bahr is a member of the Dahmit Nubian Village Association in Riyadh. He has been sentenced to 10-12 years in prison, and has been in detention since July 2020. He and the other 9 citizens had been living in Saudi Arabia while in exile from Egypt. The trial lacked the minimum international standards for a fair trial and due process, and led to heavy prison sentences.
On 06 September 2025, the Specialised Criminal Court of Appeal decided in an e-hearing on a reduction of between 30% to 50% of the sentences against all of the ten detained Nubian citizens, in addition to a reduction to seven years for those sentenced to 10 years in prison.
