The Activist Guide was created by the International Service for Human Rights (ISHR) to serve as an introduction to the Declaration +25, giving a snapshot of what is in this important document, delving into how it can be used and encouraging its promotion.

The Activist Guide is intended for all human rights defenders, activists, civil society representatives, community leaders, human rights organisations and everyone exercising the right to defend rights. It is available in English, Spanish, French and Chinese. 

ISHR encourages people to use it and promote the Declaration +25 as much as possible so it becomes an authoritative document providing the best standards when it comes to defenders’ protection and recognition.

The Declaration +25 was launched in June 2024. It is grounded in international law and supplements the UN Declaration on Human Rights Defenders. Together, they set the standards to take into account when protecting the right to defend rights and those who exercise it.
