Tactical Tech is a Berlin-based non-profit organization working at the intersection of technology, human rights and civil liberties. The Organization provides trainings, conducts research and creates cultural interventions that contribute to the wider socio-political debate around digital security, privacy and the ethics of data.
Tactical Tech investigates ways in which digital technologies change society and impact individual autonomy and agency, using their findings to drive practical solutions for an international audience of civil society actors and engaged citizens.
The Organization has been working with their partners, hosting events, and contributing to the global conversation about technology and how it impacts people’s lives.
Tactical Tech has an online version of Data Detox Kit (updated), with new methods of digital investigation, finding alternative ways to uncover abuses of power and corruption through digital tools. Arabic: https://datadetoxkit.org/ar/home/
The Organization provides up-to-date tools, advice and capacity building to respond to shifting digital security needs. It works with rights advocates, journalists, activists and others to build their digital security skills. Tactical Tech does the following:
- Intensive trainings with small groups;
- Workshops;
- Flash interventions, where they offer advice and materials at large-scale advocacy events;
- Toolkits and guides;
- Short films and animations;
- Talks and panels.
Tactical Tech has worked on many projects, prominently: Security in-a-box for the LGBTI community in the MENA region, and Security in-a-box; digital security for women human rights defenders.
