Rasha Abdullah Al-Harazi, a Yemeni journalist and photographer, was killed on 09 November 2021 in Aden when an explosive device planted under the vehicle driven by her husband, journalist Mahmoud Al-Atmi, detonated. She was nine months’ pregnant at the time and died along with her unborn child, while her husband was seriously injured. Prior to her death, Rasha had received threats linked to her journalistic work. Although no group claimed responsibility, suspicions fell on Houthi forces. Her killing was widely condemned by international organisations including UNESCO, which called it a heinous act undermining freedom of expression.
